Help Samantha Support The Mental Health of Nurses!

Help Support Nurses Mental Health and Well-Being

Welcome!

I live in Philadelphia where I am a registered nurse and a Family Nurse Practitioner student at The University of Pennsylvania. I have been a distance runner since middle school and continue to run competitively. Nearly every day, I wake up for a morning run prior to a shift or clinical day and then try to sneak in more miles with some friends afterward. Running and nursing are two of the biggest aspects in my life.

Over the last two years, I have witnessed and personally experienced the effect that the COVID pandemic has had on healthcare workers’ mental health and wellbeing. This April, I am combining my two passions and attempting to break the World Record for “fastest marathon run in a nurse’s uniform” at the Boston Marathon on April 18, 2022. By partnering with The American Nurse's Foundation, Moxie Scrubs and the 26.2 Foundation, we are supporting the mental health and wellness of RNs in the United States and the wonderful programs that they have in place and are working to grow. This effort can raise a great deal of awareness and support for this cause, which has recently become extremely personal and special to me.

Thank you so much for visiting my page, your support, and following along my journey!

UPDATE: With a time of 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 2 seconds Samantha became the new Guinness World Record Holder for “fastest marathon run in a full nurse’s uniform”.

There's still time to contribute to the fundraising goal. With your help, we can DOUBLE the impact and get to $52,400 (2 times a marathon distance)!

The funds that Samantha will raise will go towards the American Nurses Foundation's Well-Being Initiative programs supporting the mental health and wellness of Registered Nurses in the United States. Program support includes complimentary therapy resources, expressive writing programs, financial consulting, podcasts and mobile apps dedicated to mental health and well-being, as well as content dedicated to grief and bereavement.

Founded in 1955 as the research, educational, and charitable affiliate of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Nurses Foundation is dedicated to transforming the nation’s health through the power of nursing. The Foundation raises funds, develops programs, and manages grants to support advances in research, education, and clinical practice. The programs strive to elevate the image of nurses and improve their overall health; ensure that nurses can practice to the full extent of their training; strengthen nurses’ leadership skills to serve as full partners in healthcare decision-making and improvement; and generate new knowledge and policy through nurses’ scholarly research and practice.
